UN-Habitat activities in Barcelona on the occasion of World Habitat Day 2010
The United Nations has designated the first Monday of every October as World Habitat Day with the intention of drawing attention and reflect on the state of our towns and cities, and the universal basic right to adequate shelter. The theme this year: "Better city better life" coincides with that of the Expo 2010 in Shanghai, the host city of this year's global celebration. Taking this opportunity, UN-HABITAT organizes in Barcelona a series of events that begin on Monday, October 4 with an institutional act of Congress "Rehabilitation and Sustainability: the future is possible," event open to our members, to be followed a case series of panels organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing of Spain and Metropolis. In the following days, UN-HABITAT organizes an exchange of experience on decentralization and municipal development in Latin America and the Mediterranean.
