8th World Forum on Sustainable Development

For several years now, the Essonne Departmental Council has been implementing a proactive policy in the areas of international cooperation and sustainable development (particularly with the establishment of an Agenda 21 since 2002).

In order to ground this policy on the international scene, the Departmental Council has been a participant in the World Forum on Sustainable Development, which is organized by the journal Passages and its association ADAPes, since 2007.

This year marks a new step ahead as the Essonne Departmental Council is proud to host the eighth forum on its territory.

Between the Copenhagen climate summits (December 2009) and the Millennium summit in New York (September 2010), this session will explore the role and development of territories in the invention of a more sustainable, socially responsible world, and will demonstrate the importance of partnerships.

The discussion will involve experts and scientists, politicians and field players, with the participation, as in previous years, of many French and foreign personalities.
