Metropolis supports the World Urban Campaign launched by UN-Habitat
Metropolis, as a member of the Steering Committee of the World Urban Campaign, watched with enthusiasm the launch of this program during the World Urban Forum. The World Urban Campaign is a platform for public, private and civil society actors to elevate policies and share practical tools for sustainable urbanization. It focuses on providing governments and partner networks with an advocacy instrument to articulate a shared vision for a better urban future and to advance the urban agenda within their respective constituencies.
The 100 Cities Initiative "Your City, Your Story", part of the Campaign, was also brought to public. This initiative is designed to mobilize people, communities, municipal officials, service providers, and the political leadership of any city. It does so by encouraging these actors to tell their story on how they are contributing to a better and more sustainable city. After the initial test phase due to last 18 months, the initiative would be opened to broader participation by all cities committed to open learning and sharing. The intention is to make full use of the new media and encourage people to submit their stories in the most creative and innovative manner possible.
