Metropolis and National Institute of Urban Affairs (India) embark on Joint Agreement strengthening their association in India

A Memorandum of Understanding was reached by the two organisations: Metropolis and National Institute of Urban Affairs (India). The principle of the agreement provides synergies in partnering with Indian Metropolitan Cities to enhance Urban Governance, Reform and Sustainability.
The nature of the partnership is predicated on the collaboration between Metropolis and NIUA via exchanges of information and joint actions related to the improvement of cities and their governance.
Both Metropolis and NIUA acknowledge the value of research and policy development pertinent to urban issues in India, and are interested in sharing intellectual capital with the view to publish the results of such research.
In this context, Metropolis is keen to engage with India's Metropolitan Cities to examine their approaches to governance, providing essential services, technical and financial assistance, and generally responding to community expectations. As the lead urban research organisation in India, NIUA is perceived as an important international partner for increasing international cooperation between the world's major cities and specifically with Indian metropolises.
