Metropolis turns 25 this year and the anniversary is set to coincide with the holding of the Board of Directors Meeting in Barcelona, the site of the Association's Secretariat-General. From 5 to 8 October 2010 Barcelona will gather together politicians, technicians and experts in the metropolitan management of large cities from around the world.

As well as the statutory meetings, a number of Metropolis Standing Commissions will also meet, including Commission 2 Managing Urban Growth, Commission 3 Integrated Urban Governance and Commission 5 Partnership for Urban Innovation. The Global Fund for Cities Development and the Metropolitan International Women's Network will also hold meetings.

Municipal leaders from over 100 of the Association's member cities shall be invited to attend the event to exchange experiences and celebrate the 25^th anniversary of Metropolis in the incomparable setting afforded by the city of Barcelona.
