Participate in the new Commissions!
We are pleased to inform that the new Standing Commissions for the 2009-2011 period were approved at the last General Assembly meeting of the World Association of Major Metropolises (METROPOLIS) held on 25 October 2008 in Sydney. They are the following:
- Commission 1: Eco-Regions – Food Safety Presidency: Ile de France (Paris);
Vice-Presidency: Toronto
- Commission 2: Urban Growth Management - Presidency: Melbourne;
Vice-Presidency: tbc
- Commission 3: Integrated Urban Governance - Presidency: Berlin;
Vice-Presidency: tbc
- Commission 4: Megacities - Presidency: Mexico DF;
Vice-Presidency: tbc
- Commission 5: Alliance for Urban Innovation - Presidency: Barcelona;
Vice-Presidency: tbc
We believe that an active participation on the part of your city in one or more of the Commissions is a very valuable contribution to the Association’s works, as well as for your city. Please find attached a participation sheet which should be returned by email (metropolis@metropolis.org) or fax (+34 93 342 94 66) before 2 May 2009.
Finally, we would inform you that the Presidencies of Commission 2, 3, 4 and 5 have officially announced the search for the Vice-Presidencies. If you would be interested in your city assuming this position in one of the Commissions, please send a formal request as soon as possible.
