METROPOLIS regrets to announce that the meeting of the Commission 1 “ECOLOGICAL REGION and OPEN SPACES, OUTLYING AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES, WATER AND BIODIVERSITY” due in Caracas, 24-26th September, has been cancelled. After exchanging with Commission 1 and the city of Caracas representatives, and taking into account organizational issues, METROPOLIS has decided to adjourn the meeting of Commission 1, which will announce, in due time, its next activities.
“City capacity building: evaluation of needs for the local leadership program” workshop. Marseilles, 1 July 2009
Organized by Metropolis and CISCO, this workshop took place in Marseilles on 1 July 2009 as part of the agreement signed by the company and our association. It mainly dealt with two subjects: “Urban innovation and training” and “City capacity building”, with the aim of contributing training content for cities based on different programs presented by the participants themselves.

The launching meeting of the Commission 5: Partnership for Urban Innovation was held in Barcelona from the 15 to 16 June 2009 and counted on the participation of 36 delegates from Metropolis cities like Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Paris (Ile-de-France) and Porto Alegre. The event had a high participation of private companies such as CISCO, AECOM, INEC, Abertis and Santa&Cole who are engaged in fostering innovation in cities.
